Gutter Fics

Stuck   By: Kay, Piper, and Jo

Luke and Lorelai stuck in the diner's storage room.

Diner, night

Lorelai walked into the storage room and found Luke unpacking boxes. She smiled and walked up to him.
"Hiya!"
He dropped the can of pickles he was holding and luckily, it didn't break. He groaned when he saw a grinning Lorelai.
"Don't do that," he scolded. "Ever again."
"Ooh, did I scare you, Luke, did I?"
"No."
"You look scared. You're panting." She pressed her hand against his chest. "And your heart is beating like, fifteen beats a second, so, I would say I scared you."
Luke rolled his eyes. "Ok, fine, you scared me. Big deal."
"Unpacking looks fun," Lorelai said, sitting on a nearby stool and watching Luke.
"Yeah, well, it's more fun when there's two people unpacking..." he trailed off, looking at her.
"Ha, hell no. I'm not helping."
"Fat lot of help you are in here. Go away and let me finish. Go bother Michel or something."
"I bothered him enough today. He'll literally rip off my head if I go back."
"Then go back," Luke said sarcastically. "Please, it would save me from having to ever hear you speak again."
Lorelai put her hands on her hips and stuck her tongue out at him.
"Just for saying that, I'm going to stay even longer!"
"Great."
Lorelai walked over to the storage room door. She moved the brick out of the way and Luke's eyes widened.
"Lorelai, no!" he called, but she had already closed the door. She turned around and smiled.
"What?" she asked.
"You just locked us in."
Lorelai laughed. "Funny, Luke." She pulled on the door handle, but it wouldn't budge. After a few more attempts, she turned to Luke and bit her lip. "Ok, I guess you're right."

]"Of course I'm right! It's my diner!"
"Geesh, calm down," Lorelai said, more to herself than Luke. "There's a phone in here, isn't there?"
"Right. Phone. Good idea." Luke rushed off to go find the phone. Suddenly everything got very quiet.
"Luke?" Lorelai asked timidly.
"I can't believe it's still broken!" Luke yelled. Just then his face appeared around the corner. "Kirk was supposed to come and fix it two weeks ago but he never did."
"And you're just remembering this now?"
"Well, I wasn't exactly anticipating getting locked in here so yes, I am just remembering this now. Anyway," he continued with a wave of his hand, "you have a cell phone, right?"
Lorelai ripped her cell phone out of her purse. "No reception. I guess we really are stuck," she said worriedly.
"Until tomorrow morning, yes," he admitted.
"How do you know? We could die in here!"
"Nah, not possible. Jess is supposed to take over pickle duty tomorrow morning so unless he skips it because I'm not around -"
"Which is very possible!"
"Okay, so it's likely, but people will come looking for us eventually."
"Our skeletons, maybe." Lorelai said bitterly.
"There is no way on earth we could die." Luke said. "There's enough food to last us for two years, even with your appetite."
Lorelai grinned. "But what do I do if I have to go to the bathroom?"

Luke looked at her nervously, "Um, I'm sure you could figure something out."
They slid to the ground and sat in silence for a few minutes, thinking. "Hey Luke, Guess what?" Lorelai laughed uncomfortably.
"Oh no." Luke sighed, knowing what she was going to say.
Lorelai nodded slowly, "Keep me entertained so I don't think about it until we get out of here. Please?"
"How am I supposed to keep you entertained?"
"I don't know, but you'd better think of something."
"You're the one who always thinks up crazy things. Entertain yourself."
"It's much more amusing if you entertain me. You never do anything crazy, so it would definitely be more entertaining than my entertaining myself." she babbled.
Luke sighed as she squirmed. "You're confusing crazy with stupid." he rolled his eyes.
"I don't do stupid things." Lorelai defended herself.
Luke raised an eyebrow.
"Usually." she amended. "But you never do anything spontan-" she was cut off by Luke's lips on hers. She kissed him back after getting over the initial shock.
