The temperature is scorching, the humidity is at it's highest, and there's sweat running down his forehead into his eyes. Luke sets his toolbox down on Lorelai's front steps, takes off his hat and wipes his face on his shirt. The front door opens. "Thank God you're here. You think you can fix the air conditioner?" Luke puts his hat back on his head and looks up at Lorelai. His eyes widen as she walks over to him in a bikini top with cutoff denim shorts. He has trouble pulling his gaze away from the beads of perspiration that are running down her chest. He finally looks away and says, "I don't know. I'll try."


Lorelai gives him a little smile. "Come in. Do you want a drink first?"
"Yeah, water. Thanks." Luke is still having trouble tearing his gaze from Lorelai.
"Are you alright Luke? You looked a little dazed?"
"I'm good..just hot"
Lorelai smiles and pulls out two waters from the fridge.
Twenty minutes later Luke is sprawled on the floor inspecting the AC. Lorelai catches a glimpse of his washboard stomach peeking from beneath his shirt.
"We need to replace a part of the AC...Lorelai? Lorelai!"
Lorelai quickly tears her gaze from Luke's chest and looked him in the eyes. "Oh, uh what? I'm sorry. I..uh..spaced out there for a sec."
Luke stared at her for a moment, *this heat is getting to us both*.
"I said you need a new part for the AC. I can go buy the part and be back here."
"Oh, ok. Hey, let me come with you?"
"Uh, yeah..sure. You won't be bored going to a hardware store?"
"Nah. It'll be fun"
"You have strange passions!"

Lorelai and Luke arrive at the hardware store ten minutes later.
"You're really going to run around in a bikini top?"
"Why? Does it make you uncomfortable?"
"Uh, no. I just thought you would want to put a shirt on."
"Do I look that bad"
"No, you look good"
"Mmm. Yeah?"
"I mean, you don't look bad..uh..you look nice..uh. Uh, can we just go into the store?"
Lorelai laughs as he stumbles over his words.
"Ok ok"
They walk into the store. Luke walks up to a worker and asks for a specific part for the AC.
"I'm sorry sir. We're all out."
"What?!"
"I'm sorry sir. With this heatwave going on, we've had a lot of people come in with AC problems."
The man nods and walks off.
"This is great! It's over 100 degrees outside and they are out of AC parts!"
"It's alright Luke. We'll just go up to Hartford and get the part." Lorelai gives him a little pout until he agrees.
"Oh, alright. Do you want to get a shirt first?"
Lorelai looks at him. "This again? There's nothing wrong walking around in a bikini top when it's over 100 degrees outside. Everyone's doing it. Besides, how often do you get to see me half naked?"
Luke turns red and looks away. "Ok" he mumbles.

They get back into Luke's truck and take off towards Hartford.
"Do you know where the hardware store is in Hartford?"
"Yeah, I've been there a few times."
"Can I turn on some music? What do you like to listen too?"
"Go ahead. I don't really listen to music"
"Aw, yes you do. What do you like?"
"Mostly rock"
"Me too." Music starts blaring from the speakers.
Luke looks over at Lorelai. Only she would have the guts to walk around in public in a bikini top. Not that he minded. He just hoped it didn't show that he didn't mind.
"Here we are."
"Ooohh..this is a bigger store. We're bound to find the part we need."
"Better find the part we need."
"Come on, Luke. This is fun. Admit it. This is fun."
Luke laughs, "Let's just go in."
Lorelai shrieks as she runs ahead of Luke and holds the door open for him.
Inside the store they find the part they are looking for and start heading back to Lorelai's house.

Back at the house, Luke goes to the AC and starts to work on it. Lorelai walks in.
"Do you want anything Luke"
"I'm fi.." Lorelai changed out of her shorts and into her bikini bottom. So she was just wearing a bikini now. Luke doesn't know how much longer he was going to stand.
"I brought us ice cubes"
"Ice cubes?"
"To keep cool. You just hold it and rub it on your face and chest to keep cool"
"Uh, ok"
Luke watches Lorelai as she takes an ice cube and runs it across her forhead and down her neck. She lets out a moan as she lowers the ice cube to her the top of her breast.
Luke swallows hard and returns back to the AC.
"You're sweating like a pig, Luke!"
Luke laughs, "Thanks".
Giggling, Lorelai looks at him.
"I just meant..why don't you take off your shirt? You'll be cooler. And your shirt is already soaked..so it would make sense to just not have it on."
Luke thinks for a minute. He is getting pretty hot in his shirt. The sight of Lorelai in her bikini sure isn't helping much either. He puts down his tools and takes off his shirt.
"Ok..it is pretty hot in here."
"There you go, now we both can be comfortable."
Lorelai catches his eye for a moment and looks away.
"Here, have an ice cube"
"nah, but thanks"
"hmm..suit yourself. I'm going to get another water."
Luke watches her walk off. He sees her in the kitchen as she takes a water bottle out of the fridge. Lorelai takes a long sip then pours the water onto her face. Luke stops what he's doing and stares at the water rolling onto her chest and stomach. Lorelai catches him staring and smiles at him.
"You sure you don't want another water?"
"Uh, yeah, I can use some water" *And a cold shower*
Lorelai walks back to where Luke is sitting and hands him a water bottle. Luke takes a drink and turns back to the AC.
*God, he looks good* Lorelai scoots a little closer to Luke.
"Do you need any help?"
"Yeah, can you hand me that wrench?"
Lorelai reaches over Luke to get the wrench. Luke stiffens up a bit as he feels Lorelai brush against him. Lorelai hands him the wrench.
"Here, anything else? Cool you off, maybe?" Lorelai hangs her water bottle over his head.
"You wouldn't dare"
Laughing, Lorelai pours the water over Luke's head. She watches the water drip off his muscles and suddenly starts to feel a bit flighty.
"Oh, you are so dead!"
Luke grabs his water and starts to pour it over Lorelai. She laughs and takes off running towards the living room. Luke takes off after her.


Lorelai runs out of the house and around to the backyard. Luke follows her. He stops when he sees Lorelai holding a garden hose.
"Since when do you own a hose?"
"Rory and I bought it a while back."
"hmm..ok. You're seriously not going to soak me. What about your AC"
Lorelai looks at him with a mischievous grin.
"We can finish the AC later. Now it's time to cool off"
Lorelai lets go of the spray handle and sprays Luke on the chest. Luke laughs and lunges for the hose. He grabs it away from Lorelai and points the nossel at her.
"Why don't we call a truce Luke?"
"Why? 'Cause I have the hose? You can start it but you can't finish? Is that it?" Luke lets out a little spray. Lorelai laughs and runs up to Luke and tries to take the hose away. They wrestle around for a moment and Lorelai finally manages to take the hose from Luke.
"Come closer and you get it"
Luke steps closer. He grabs Lorelai by the arm. She turns her back on him and tries to run, but Luke has a grip on her. He swings his other arm around her and takes the hose. Throwing the hose on the ground, he reaches back up and holds Lorelai so she can't move.
Laughing, "Ok, Luke, you win. I won't spray you anymore!"
She turns to face him. His face only inches from hers. Lorelai smiles and turns to go back into the house. Luke follows her back to the AC. He watches as she bends over to pick up another ice cube. Taking the ice cube, she walks over to Luke and runs it down his arm.
"Are you cooled off yet?"
"No" Luke says gruffly.
Sensing his arousal, Lorelai takes the ice cube and sucks on it. Luke swallows and looks down her body.
Lorelai tosses the ice cube aside. She grabs Luke's shoulders and kisses him hard on the lips. Overcoming his shock, Luke kisses her back. Letting go of all the pent up passion that he's been holding back for years, he pins her up against the wall.
